So, what is thread count? Thread count is simply a way to measure how many threads we weave in a square inch of fabric. At a certain point, it becomes difficult to fit any more threads in. So some companies might make their long threads by twisting many short, poor quality threads of cotton together and calling it a higher thread count.
But after a few washes, you might find that the ends of these shorter and poor quality cotton threads come loose and create a pilling effect, which is the small cotton balls that you’ll see on your clothes or on your bed sheets.
And this causes skin irritation and also doesn’t look very nice on your bed.
